Gold, Silver and Custom asset management
Every asset with a clear identity, unit and precision
Your institution might work only with Gold, with Gold and Silver, or with an asset it has defined itself. HOLD OS handles all of these with one shared engine and keeps every asset in its own identity.
- Gold A native asset with its own identity, unit and reference price.
- Silver A native asset separate from Gold, with its own reference price and records.
- Custom An asset your institution defines with a specific name, unit and precision; there can be more than one.
Three asset types, one precise definition
Every asset in HOLD OS has three basic properties that are fixed before any operation takes place.
-
Stable identity
An identifier that does not change when the display name changes. The name is for reading; the identity is for accounting.
-
Unit
The unit in which quantities are recorded; for a Custom asset, the unit the institution defined, with no assumption of grams or Gold.
-
Precision
The number of decimal places allowed, set independently for each asset; one asset’s precision never affects another.
A workspace that follows the active assets
The institution’s general administrator decides which assets are active and which is the default. The interface adapts to that choice.
| What to evaluate | How HOLD OS approaches it |
|---|---|
| Only Gold is active | Gold’s name, unit and reference price are shown, without an unnecessary selector. |
| Only Silver is active | Silver’s identity and price are shown; Gold data is never converted or relabelled as Silver. |
| Gold and Silver are both active | A shared selector with a separate price for each asset; each user’s selection is tied to their own session and account. |
| One or more Custom assets are active | The defined name and unit of each asset are shown, with a list of active assets and a valid default. |
Units and precision, independent for each asset
Gold and Silver may both be measured in grams, yet a gram of Gold and a gram of Silver are different things. HOLD OS keeps that difference in the asset’s identity, not in a name or a note.
For a Custom asset the institution defines the unit and precision itself. The system imposes no default unit and never guesses a purity grade or a commercial standard.
Reference price and trade price are separate concepts
Prices in HOLD OS are manual and explicit. Automatic market or live-rate feeds are not part of this product; the institution sets the price.
| What to evaluate | How HOLD OS approaches it |
|---|---|
| Reference price | A manual value per asset unit recorded by the institution, used for display and guidance. |
| Trade price | The price recorded and approved for a specific trade; a reference price never takes its place. |
| No price recorded | When no price has been entered, the field is shown empty, never as zero. |
Example: a record that settings cannot move
Suppose an institution worked only with Gold for a period and then made Silver the default asset. Earlier balances, contracts and events are still Gold and are shown in the unit they were recorded in.
If an asset is deactivated, new entries for it are restricted, but existing balances, running contracts, rent payments and principal returns continue in that same asset. This is an illustrative example, not any institution’s real data.
- Recorded history Balance and contract recorded in Gold
- Settings change Silver becomes the default asset
- History kept Earlier records remain Gold, in the same unit
